i-SIGMA is the global trade association for secure information management, representing over 5,000 professionals and 2,500+ certified locations across 35+ countries in document destruction, records management and IT asset disposition (ITAD). Through its NAID AAA and PRISM Privacy+ certifications, i-SIGMA sets the standard organisations rely on to prove their data destruction and information governance practices are trustworthy.

The Challenge
Certification only matters if people can verify it quickly and accurately, without emailing someone and waiting. i-SIGMA needed its website to do that verification automatically, powered by live data from Rhythm, their membership and certification management system, rather than static documents that go out of date the moment a certification changes.
The project presented several connected challenges:
- Generating fully branded, accurate compliance certificates on demand, pulling company name, reference number, certification profile, issue date, location, expiration and destruction-method details directly from Rhythm with no manual editing.
- Letting anyone using the Service Locator or Compliance Tracker subscribe to updates for a specific member or location, without first opening a full detail page.
- Automatically detecting changes in a member’s compliance status and sending updated reports to subscribers twice a day, without staff triggering it manually.
- Giving i-SIGMA’s team a way to see and manage who had subscribed to what, across potentially dozens of locations per email address, without touching code.
- Doing all of this securely, removing hardcoded legacy credentials and documenting the system well enough for i-SIGMA to maintain it themselves.
- Redesigning the website with a fresh structure, UX and visual identity fit for a global association.
The challenge was ultimately to turn certification into something anyone can verify in seconds, with information that is always current.

What We Set Out to Deliver
i-SIGMA needed more than a new website. It needed a platform where trust could be verified automatically. The brief brought together several intersecting goals:
- Redesign and rebuild the website with a fresh structure, UX and visual identity befitting a global association
- Connect WordPress to Rhythm so compliance certificates always use live, accurate data
- Generate personalised PDF reports instantly when users subscribe, and re-issue them automatically when compliance details change
- Make it easy to subscribe to alerts directly from the Service Locator and Compliance Tracker

Key Functionality
Dynamic, Auto-Generated Compliance Certificates
Every PDF report is built live from Rhythm data — company name, reference number, certification profile, issue date and time (EST, US format), location, expiration, and destruction-method details — so the certificate in someone’s inbox always reflects a member’s actual, current status.
Automated Compliance Alerts, Twice Daily
A scheduled process checks Rhythm for changes every day and automatically re-issues and delivers updated reports to subscribed users, keeping compliance information current without any manual intervention from the i-SIGMA team.
One-Click Subscriptions from Search
Users can sign up for ongoing updates directly from the Service Locator or Compliance Tracker results, without needing to open a full detail page first — reducing friction for anyone who just wants to stay informed about a specific provider.
Subscriber Management Admin Panel
A custom WordPress admin panel lets the i-SIGMA team search subscribers by name or email and see every location or member a given subscriber follows in one place, with the ability to unsubscribe users directly — no developer support needed.
Smart, Flexible Search
The Service Locator and Compliance Tracker support search by location, business name, or zip code, matching on partial addresses so users don’t need to know an exact match to find what they’re looking for.
Secure, Documented, and Built to Last
Legacy hardcoded credentials were removed to close off a recurring password-reset issue, and the full system — API integrations, scheduled jobs, subscription workflows, PDF logic, and email architecture — was documented so i-SIGMA can maintain and evolve it independently.
Built for a Global Membership
A Google Translate integration covering over 50 countries lets members and prospective members browse the site and access certification information in their own language, reflecting the truly international reach of i-SIGMA’s certified network.
Why WordPress
i-SIGMA’s requirements went well beyond what a standard association website could provide. Live certification data, on-demand PDF certificates, twice-daily automated reporting and subscriber management called for a platform built around how verification actually works.
Rather than relying on static content, Madcraft built a custom integration connecting WordPress directly to Rhythm, alongside custom admin tooling and full technical documentation covering integrations, scheduled jobs, subscriptions, PDF generation and email architecture. WordPress gave us a flexible, maintainable foundation that also supports integration with Constant Contact. The result isn’t a black box handed over at launch, but infrastructure i-SIGMA can rely on and build on for years.
