P2 Capital: Branding a New Standard in Strategic Venture Capital

Madcraft partnered with P2 Capital, a bold and forward-thinking venture capital firm, to craft a brand identity that mirrors its unique, practical, and proven approach to investing in AI and data-driven B2B scale-ups. Operating at the intersection of venture capital and private equity, P2 Capital needed a brand that reflects its deep sector expertise, operational discipline, and future-focused mindset.

Defining a Distinct Identity in Venture Capital

P2 Capital stands apart in a crowded investment landscape. Inspired by private equity principles, the firm offers more than just capital—it delivers strategic insight, operational guidance, and flexible financial solutions tailored for high-growth businesses.

Our branding process began by identifying and exploring two core brand values, which made up the name ‘P2’: Practical and Proven. Together with the client, we helped define these central themes and expand them for a foundational brand context and identity. 

  • Practical: P2’s strategies are grounded in reality. Their hands-on, actionable approach ensures that portfolio companies receive support that is executable, scalable, and aligned with global growth ambitions.
  • Proven: With a track record of success, P2 has demonstrated the effectiveness of its methods. The brand needed to communicate trust, expertise, and credibility.

Logo Design: Balancing Precision and Vision

At the heart of our work with P2 Capital was the design of a visual identity, with a redesigned and refined logomark composed of two key elements:

  1. The Logotype: A modern, bold, and professional wordmark that emphasizes clarity and confidence. Its sharp geometry signals precision and discipline—qualities embedded in P2’s investment philosophy.
  2. The Scale Icon: A bespoke symbol designed to communicate scalability and upward growth—key promises P2 makes to its founders and investors. The icon mimics the top of the letter “t” from the logotype and is rotated 180 degrees clockwise to form a symbol that denotes positive, upward momentum. It represents measured progress and the consistent calibration required to help companies grow effectively.

The new identity was built to resonate with AI and data-driven founders—companies that demand both visionary thinking and grounded support. From typography to iconography, every element of the brand was designed with intention:

  • Sleek, data-inspired design language
  • Confident color palette that allows content and insights to take center stage
  • Consistent, scalable usage across digital and print mediums

Color System: Bold, Balanced, and Strategic

Color is central to the P2 Capital brand. Each tone was selected to reflect the firm’s personality and reinforce its strategic messaging:

  • Bold and Fresh Green: Symbolizes growth, energy, and innovation.
  • Strength and Trust Blue: Evokes confidence, dependability, and strategic clarity.
  • Stability and Balance Grey: Adds grounding, neutrality, and professionalism.
  • Clarity and Simplicity White: Represents transparency, focus, and a clean slate for growth.

Tints of green, blue, and grey are also used to add visual dimension and texture, especially across digital applications.

Graphic Language: Waves of Growth

The P2 Capital “scale” icon forms the foundation for a dynamic graphic language system, which we called the “Waves of Growth.” This expression captures the brand’s philosophy of helping companies scale, grow, and prosper.

Two graphic styles are used:

  1. Regular Interval Expression: Structured and rhythmic, conveying planned, sustainable growth.
  2. Irregular Interval Expression: Symbolizes agility and tailored support for diverse business journeys.

These waves may also be:

  • Sliced at random intervals to illustrate the firm’s ability to forge different paths to mutual success.
  • Rendered in varied line thicknesses to add dimension, represent growth stages, and highlight strategic momentum.

All graphic elements maintain a clear visual link to the original “scale” icon to preserve consistency and recognizability.
